Program Overview

Program Overview

North Toronto Nitros Soccer's grassroots Development Pathway is for players from the age of under 8 (2013) to under 12 (2009) for both males and females.

The structure now sees the players split into two streams, the Nitros Development Pathway for U9 and U10 players and the Advanced Development Pathway for U11 and U12 players.

Our younger age group is under the guidance of Tom Waud, Manager of Nitros Development Pathway.

Both of these passionate and experienced coaches joined club colleagues Billy Wilson (Technical Director), Nic Hurtado (Manager of Recreation), Octavian Ghidanac and Rachel Murray to be amongst the first 21 coaches in the nation awarded the new Canada Soccer Children's License in September 2020.

All players will train throughout the year under the direction of Tom and Andy and their assigned Long Term Player Development (LTPD) Head Coach and Assistant Coach of the age group.

The overall objective of NTSC’s Nitros Development program is to create a developmental environment for every player that matches his/her individual playing needs and abilities. To do this, NTSC will be following CSA’s Long Term Player Development (LTPD)

Season Duration and Commitment

The 2020/21 Indoor Season (Fall and Winter) begins in mid-October and runs until the end of April. Sessions will be indoor on turf.

As players develop throughout their time at North Toronto Nitros, they will be provided with the opportunity to continue in the program if the following minimum requirements are met:

For U8 players, players have 3 events per week plus a game.

For our U9 - U10 players have a total of 4 events (3 practice and 1 game).

Practice Format

All North Toronto Nitros practices we will be following the Ontario Soccer Player Development Model. North Toronto Nitros have created an adapted version of the model which can be seen here: 4 Corner Model

Four staff coaches work with players at each training session; one at league games (U9-U12). All coaches have training and experience working with children.
